DTF Startups

Here we present our success stories – startup teams from all former DTF Batches that have already made it. We are super proud of each and everyone of them!

Evolonic (DTF B#8)

Evolonic develops innovative electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, “eVTOLs”, offering a service for automatic early detection of forest fires. The startup is a research initiative located at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Fraunhofer IISB. Using a sophisticated sensor system and AI for forest fire detection, they have generated know-how in the design and construction of high-end long-range drones.

Good to know: Evolonic is a winner of the international New Flying Competition 2020 and 2022 and a winner of the FAU Start-up Demo Day. Now Evolonic is planning a pilot project to test the business concept of a service for government agencies, for regular monitoring of wildfire risk areas, and to generate funding for the upcoming spin-off.

Oculai (DTF B#6)

Oculai is a ConTech startup that uses cameras and artificial intelligence to automatically record construction processes and progress. The product from oculai is an AI-supported software that recognizes and automatically documents outdoor construction processes from camera data. Via a web app, users have access, among other things, to an automated target/actual schedule, self-writing daily construction reports, productivity key figures or routes. Based on the automated documentation and the collected data, there is a savings potential of 7% of the shell construction costs and a time saving of 15% for construction site teams.

Good to know: After starting the idea in the DTA, Oculai secured funding by the EXIST start-up grant and joined Zollhof TechIncubator. Initially they were founded in July 2021. In 2022, Oculai completed €2.5 million seed round for AI-supported process recording on construction sites.

Arfinity (DTF B#3)

Arfinity provides Augmented Reality solutions to trade fairs. It enables completely new ways of product presentation and interaction, offering new value to trade fair organizers, exhibitors, and visitors. In an easy configuration tool, exhibitors can create their own AR content and showcase a bigger portfolio in the form of true-to-original 3D-models during events. This saves them costs and increases visitor engagement and undestanding of their products. The visitors in their turn can view the content of all exhibitors, interact with the showpieces, and collect information about them using the arfinity app. During the Corona pandemic, arfinity complemented hybrid or fully digital events by adding the possibility of a remote one-on-one explanation system, especially for complex products.
